Is the UK the most spied upon country in the world?

We have just completed a “Grand Tour”, driving in or through France, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy.

This covered over 3,500 miles and in all that time:

  • No traffic jams
  • Only one speed camera identified (mobile in Croatia)
  • Hardly any CCTV
  • No visible APNR

Upon our return to the UK, driving from Folkstone to Bournemouth:

  • M20 jammed with 50mph limit almost all the way from Folkstone to the M26
  • Average speed cameras on most of the M20
  • M25 jammed
  • Speed cameras along the M25
  • M3 jammed
  • Average speed cameras on M3
  • A338 jammed
  • Average speed cameras on A338
  • Speed cameras on A338

So, on the final 170 miles we were almost never away from traffic jams, fixed speed cameras, average speed cameras and ANPR. It’s truly shocking and a reflection on the lack of privacy in the UK.
