I recently saw an old episode of Dragons Den where the owners of Pasta Evangelists failed to get any investment or partners from the Dragons. OK, I thought the Dragons are always way too greedy but what a great idea, lets see if they are still going.
Sure enough they were and the menu was really enticing. So in we plunged and ordered 2 lots of pasta for two, total £36.00 delivery scheduled for Wednesday.
We waited in anticipation, Venetian prawn & prosecco ravioli with lemon butter sauce - yum! Another dish of Venetian beef shin & valpolicella wine tortellini with a sage butter sauce, it really makes your mouth water.
Alas, the day before they were due, I received an email from Yodel regarding delivery. My heart sank. Yodel! Oh no.
Wednesday came but the pasta didn't. Yodel "were unable to access your delivery address". Hello! I work from home and Herself was home all day. All you have to do is ring the doorbell. This has happened a few times in the past with Yodel, I guess they are cheap but they are pretty useless at delivering stuff.
Anyways...
I call "Charlotte and her team" at Pasta Evangelists who "would be more than happy to help me". 2 minutes estimated wait turned into 5 minutes and I'm thinking customer services must be pretty busy, perhaps lots of others have the same problem as me. Eventually I speak to someone who apologises and "we'll contact Yodel straight away". Will you get back to me I ask? Yes, we'll keep you informed.
Some time later I get a call from someone at Yodel. The driver will come back she told me. OK, I say, here is the door code to get in (I shouldn't really do that) just in case the driver can't work the door bell.
Well, the end of this sorry tale was no pasta, no Yodel and no "keeping me informed" from Charlotte and her team. If it was my business I would be thinking about replacing Charlotte and her team pretty promptly swiftly followed by whoever organises logistics.
Next day I call again and insist on a refund. Whilst that was immediately processed, just to "rub salt into the wound" I'm informed that the refund may take up to 7 working days to appear in your account - WHAT?
Sorry Pasta Evangelists - nice idea but a shocking way to run a business.
Gulp! We've ordered "Beef Chili Cheese Dogs" from MEATliquor for Friday, will we go hungry again?
